Weigh-in Results Are In!
Mohave State Bank’s Yuma branch is pleased to announce 2,145 lbs of food was collected during “Putting On the Pounds-For Those In Need” food drive for the Yuma Community Food Bank, Salvation Army and Crossroads Mission.“Putting On the Pounds-For Those In Need,” led by Jeff Byrd, Mohave State Bank Business Relationship Manager, was a collaborative effort involving our bank staff, customers and businesses contributing food, money and time. With only five weeks to make the goal, Brian Geren, Market Manager for Yuma branch, was elated to surpass their original goal of 2,000 lbs. Next year the annual program will start earlier and the weigh-in goal will be doubled to 4,000 lbs.
“Putting on the Pounds-For Those In Need” comes at a crucial time. Currently, the demand for hunger relief in Yuma County is at an all time high. The 2,145 lbs of collected food will translate into 1,300 meals served to suffering adults, seniors and children.
“When Mohave State Bank puts on a food drive like this, it also makes a big impact on other non-profits. The food from ‘Putting on the Pounds-For Those In Need’ will be sorted and distributed to after-school programs, senior centers and soup kitchens throughout this community,” says Ronna Sue Stubbs, President and Chief Executive Officer of Yuma Community Food Bank. “When a bank steps up like this, it says a lot about who they are—they’re a community bank.”
